THE MATRIX: PATH OF NEO REVIEW:  At this point in gaming history, most gamers (myself included), have become jaded to the idea of a videogame based off of a movie. From the rehashed storyline, to lame gameplay mechanics, and the clear agenda of merely turning a profit, this gaming niche has never captured the market that developers have hoped it would. There have been some rare gems along the line, Spider-Man 2 coming to mind, but these titles are few and far between. One strange anomaly to this trend is that of The Matrix. Certainly a successful trilogy of films, despite what fans would say about the later entries of the mix, players have yearned for a gaming experience to match the action seen on the big screen. The possibility of a deep and involving story, stylized action scenes, and a cast of cool characters, this franchise has been a gold mine in the making. Then comes along 2003’s Enter the Matrix, and as it is well known by now, didn’t live up to the hype it generated. A rushed deadline resulted in a glitchy title, that when combined with the lack of the film’s star, resulted in a less than stellar experience. Back at the drawing board once more, some six years after the first films release, is developer Shiny Entertainment and Published Atari. There plight? To show that a cool Matrix game can be done, and that they’ve got the know how to make this a realization with The Matrix: Path of Neo. So have they managed this task?
